The City of Rijeka, Administrative Department for Economy, Development, Ecology and European Projects has announced Call for expressions of interest for the use of business premises and services of Sinergan business incubator.

The renovated building of the future incubator includes over 2,700 m2 of area on five floors. In addition to 24 incubation units for entrepreneurs, the space of Sinergana contains workspaces, multifunctional classrooms and meeting rooms, data center, chat rooms, a large multifunctional hall, coworking space and other functional and logistical facilities necessary for efficient work and a pleasant stay of users in the incubator. The new business incubator will provide users with specialized classrooms and rooms equipped with modern specialized equipment: an artificial intelligence laboratory and an IoT/robotics workshop, a classroom for developing computer games with workstations, and a studio for recording, editing and processing photo and video works.

Objective of the Call

Examine the interest of small and medium-sized enterprises with headquarters in the area of Urban agglomeration Rijeka for the use of spatial capacities and incubator services for creative technologies and IT industry Sinergan.

Who can apply

The call for expressions of interest is intended majority privately owned undertakings active in the IT, creative, gaming and smart industries and related activities;. The call applies exclusively to small and medium-sized enterprises based in the area the Rijeka Urban Agglomeration, the cities of Rijeka, Bakar, Kastav, Kraljevica and Opatija and the municipalities of Čavle, Jelenje, Klana, Kostrena, Lovran, Matulji, Mošćenička Draga, Omišalj and Viškovo.

Subject matter of interest

Interested entrepreneurs may express an interest in one or more services that will be available within the future incubator:

• Rental of office space,
• Renting coworking space,
• Specialized education,
• Professional mentoring,
• Data centre services,
• Support in business internationalization,
• Business consulting.

How to submit applications

Applications are received exclusively by filling out the e-Form to express interest through the Information Service of the City of Rijeka. Instructions for registration are available here.

Forms that contain incorrect or untrue business entity identification data will not be taken into account for processing, nor will business entities that do not meet the criteria of this Call. Under this Call, a single business entity may only make expressions of interest once.

Deadline for receipt of applications

Applications are received from 5 February 2025 from 8:00 a.m. by 19 February 2025 until 4 p.m..

Expression of interest does not constitute an undertaking of any kind, both by the entrepreneur (applicant) and by the City of Rijeka.

Expression of interest do not compete for the use of office space or any other services of the Sinergan Incubator, nor do you gain any advantage over other business entities.

The purpose of analyzing the data collected on the basis of this public call is assessment of interest for individual incubator services and to create concrete insights into the needs and intentions of entrepreneurs regarding the use of incubation capacities in order to establish appropriate incubator management policies.

The Paying Agency for Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development has published a tender for the implementation of the intervention 75.01. Setting up of young farmers.

Financial allocation

The total amount of funds available is 50.000.000,00 EUR, and the intensity of the public aid is 100 % total eligible costs.

The amount of public support is fixed and amounts 75,000.00 euros.

Eligible applicants

Young farmers who are holders/responsible persons in:

• the Family Farm
• crafts for which agriculture is the predominant activity registered in the trade register
• a company whose principal activity is agriculture according to the National Classification of Activities (Section A, Section 01, groups 01.1 to 01.6 inclusive) is registered in the Register of Business Entities maintained by the National Statistical Office (excluding companies whose founders and owners are bodies governed by public law).

Eligibility conditions

• the young farmer is registered in the Farmer's Register as the holder/responsible person of the holding,
• the agricultural land of the beneficiary’s holding must be registered in ARKOD (LPIS);
• the animals on the beneficiary’s holding must be entered in the Unified Register of Domestic Animals in accordance with national legislation,
• the holding for which the young farmer draws up a business plan in his/her capacity as holder/responsible person is of an economic size ranging from EUR 10,000 SO to EUR 100,000 SO at the time of submitting the aid application.

On 15 January 2025, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) opened applications for WIPO Global Awards.

Awards are awarded to excellent start-ups and SMEs using intellectual property; (IV) to foster economic growth and social impact. The competition is intended for companies located in at least one of the WIPO Member States and is open until 31 March 2025.

Who can apply?

You can apply start-ups (start-ups including spinouts from universities), small and medium-sized enterprises. Applications are welcome from companies from all sectors – technology, fashion, health, agriculture, design, etc. – that use any form of IP (copyright, trademarks, patents and geographical indications) to improve their performance and overall development.

One of the most important conditions for applying for the competition in the case of SMEs is that they should be the holder of one registered/protected IP right, and in the case of start-ups and university spinout companies that they must have at least one application for registration/protection of one intellectual property right and/or they are the holder of at least one registered/protected intellectual property right.

What are the benefits for the winners of the award?

• Global recognition: Invitation to the award ceremony during the WIPO Assembly in Geneva, July 2025.
