Our story

Our story began in 1996, when we became one of Croatia’s first business incubators, the Rijeka Business Incubator Porin. 

To support the creation and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises, the City of Rijeka, together with Riadria Bank d.d. and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, founded a company that became the central hub of the region’s entrepreneurial infrastructure.

By continuously expanding our activities through a variety of entrepreneurial initiatives, since 2004 we have been operating as a regional development agency focused on economic and entrepreneurial development, attracting investments, and initiating and implementing projects that foster economic growth and entrepreneurship.

Since 2014, we have been fully owned by the City of Rijeka, and under the name Rijeka Development Agency Porin, we continue to carry out activities supporting comprehensive local development.

Recognising the importance of innovation and high technologies, in 2020, together with the City of Rijeka, we launched the new Technology-Educational Business Incubator, Production Park Torpedo. On an additional 1,557.34 m², entrepreneurs from the manufacturing sector gained the opportunity to develop their ideas into functional solutions—prototypes, and later into actual products—thanks to our TECH LAB equipped with specialized industrial equipment for 3D scanning and 3D printing.

In 2021, we became a direct link between citizens and EU institutions at the regional and local level through EUROPE DIRECT Rijeka.

Through various initiatives and activities, we act as an extended arm of the European Commission, providing timely and useful information about opportunities and benefits available to the citizens of Rijeka and the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.

Today, our mission remains the same: to support entrepreneurs, foster innovation, and actively contribute to the development of the local community.
