We hear exciting success stories about startup life, but due to various uncertainties in the market, more than ninety percent of projects fail and are not talked about. What all types of risks exist, what is the difference and how startups can defend themselves against the dangers they carry, find out at the workshop "Market risk – a threat to any startup we can eliminate".

The workshop will be held on Wednesday, 10 May 2023, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the premises of the Torpedo Production Park (conference hall, 1st floor), at Milutina Barača 60, Rijeka As part of the event Open Doors Days in the organization of Europe Direct Rijeka and the Rijeka Development Agency Porin. Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to hear from the lecturer Filip Stipančić i Mira Hegedić the Innovation Agency Lean Startup Croatia, how to successfully define the idea and problem of your startup and how to better position the startup on the market.

In addition, the lecturers will give an insight into the methodology of Lean Startup, which will benefit all participants in defining the most risky assumption and user segment. At the workshop, participants will be able to define the key problem that solves them and the most risky assumption that needs to be tested through teamwork using examples. The lecturers will use modern and interesting examples of startups that will provide participants with an insight into the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Lean Startup Croatia was founded for the purpose of supporting and educating startup, entrepreneurial and academic community in the application of tools for the effective development of new products and services. Through our activities, we want to leave a mark on the development of innovation, entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial knowledge in Croatia and contribute to the creation of a healthy economy, based on knowledge and innovation.

Business transfer is a challenge faced by a large number of entrepreneurs in Europe. It is estimated that in the EU about 450,000 companies with 2 million employees go through the process of business transfer every year and that in a third of companies this process is not properly approached, which is why about 600,000 jobs are lost annually. The topic of business transfer is particularly important for Croatia due to the large number of entrepreneurs who started their ventures in the 1990s and are approaching retirement. Whether they are planning a business transfer to children, employees or the sale of a business, the process of business transfer is complex and time-consuming and requires appropriate support.

The conference is held within the framework of the project "Development of the Network of Entrepreneurial Support Institutions (PPI) through the Croatian Agency for Small Business, Innovation and Investment (HAMAG-BICRO) – Phase 2" – BOND 2, which aims to contribute to increasing the level of entrepreneurial activities by creating a more favourable entrepreneurial environment in all regions of the Republic of Croatia and thus ensure stable growth and development of the entire economy.

In each pilot city of the TEMPUS project, i.e. in Rijeka, Ravenna and Solin, HACK DAYs were held in order for the participants of the event (young people from 18 to 35 years of age who worked in teams) to participate with their ideas that will contribute to new innovative solutions for the further development of tourism and economy in port cities. The local jury of pilot cities chose their winning ideas that participated in the selection of the best at the international level of the TEMPUS project.

At the meeting of TEMPUS project partners held on 28 March 2023, an international jury consisting of Michele Mazzali, Marijana Pavičić Pera and Doris Sošić evaluated the three best ideas of pilot cities:

1. New European Bahaus for the unused port heritage of Rijeka, pilot of the city of Rijeka,
2. Angela Angelina - one widespread island, pilot of the city of Ravenna,
3. Promotion and inclusion of the excursion site Jadro in the tourist offer, pilot of the city of Solin.  

At the final conference of the TEMPUS project held on 29 March 2023 in Bari, Doris Sošić announced on behalf of the jury members the winning idea of young students from Ravenna.

At the recently held INNOVATHON in Rijeka, five teams of young people aged 18-35 gathered to participate in the selection for the best idea in order to stimulate the challenges that will contribute to innovative solutions in the areas of port cities for possible further use on the TEMPUS platform.
