We are pleased to invite you to an online participatory event Local Learning Lab Interreg Europe the ECoC - SME Project which will take place 19 February 2021, starting at 10.30 a.m., organised by the Department of Entrepreneurship of the City of Rijeka and the Rijeka Development Agency Porin. The ECoC-SME project focuses on the potential of ECoC mega events for the development, strengthening and diversification of cultural and creative industries.

We will introduce you to the project and local project activities, through the following lecture, panel and discussion:

As part of the implementation of the international TEMPUS project, which is being implemented in three pilot areas in Italy and Croatia, a virtual exhibition dedicated to the history of the ports of Rijeka, Ravenna and Solin, called MYPORTHERITAGE – Restoration of the heritage of urban ports in the Adriatic Sea, is being organised and will be available at the following link http://myportheritage.eu/ as of 31 December 2020.

The exhibition will highlight the historical aspect of the development of ports, as well as their impact on their surroundings in different historical periods, so visitors will gain additional knowledge about commercial, productive and entertaining activities that marked the life of ports and the development of relations between the two Adriatic coasts. This virtual exhibition will be a good foundation for entrepreneurs who recognize the economic potential of ports and who have the opportunity to realize their entrepreneurial ideas that can be implemented in port areas, connecting past and present, with an emphasis on goods, technology, people and culture. The aim of the virtual exhibition is to enable the temporary use of space for various activities that improve the tangible and intangible port heritage.

The TEMPUS project – Temporary Applications as an Initial Action for the Improvement of Port (No) Material Heritage – brings together nine partners from Croatia and Italy with the aim of restoring abandoned urban port areas while respecting cultural heritage and community customs. The activities of the TEMPUS project focus on three pilot areas: Ravenna, Solin and the River.

The value of the project is 2.706.920,00 EUR, of which 85% refers to grants co-financed by the European Union through the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme INTERREG V-A Italy-Croatia 2014. 20-2020 The project will be implemented in the period from 1 January 2019 to the end of 2021.

The primary goal of the TEMPUS project is to test the experimental methodology of regeneration of neglected urban port areas by creating long-term strategies focused on culture and community. Thanks to integrated social activation, cultural valorisation and the involvement of interested stakeholders, TEMPUS will temporarily reactivate three pilot port areas (Ravenna, Solin, Rijeka) with the aim of launching the implementation of long-term regeneration strategies.

The goal of the TEMPUS project is to connect partner cities with their ports and create a new space of social life that will encourage creative entrepreneurship, as well as entrepreneurial initiatives in culture and tourism. In the long term, the project aims to stimulate economic development based on the valorisation of hidden tangible and intangible port heritage, including archaeological background and natural context, starting with temporary use activities.

 

Opening ceremony of the Torpedo Production Park and the final press conference of the project “Reconstruction and conversion of Hall 14 into a Technological and Educational Entrepreneurial Incubator Torpedo Production Park’ will take place Tuesday, 22 December 2020, starting at 10 a.m., in the premises of the Torpedo Production Park, Rijeka, Milutina Barača 60 (conference hall, 1st floor).

Torpedo Production Park is a new entrepreneurial infrastructure in the city of Rijeka thanks to the application of the EU project ‘Reconstruction and conversion of Hall 14 into a Technological and Educational Entrepreneurial Incubator Production Park Torpedo’, for which City of Rijeka received a grant from the European Regional Development Fund from the European Structural and Investment Funds in the financial period 2014-2020, in the amount of HRK 19,293,474.63. The total value of the project is HRK 22,691,480.39. The partner in the project is Rijeka Development Agency Porin Ltd.

With incubation and post-incubation programs and the possibility of using modern equipment in the field of additive technologies, the Torpedo Production Park enters the system of business incubators of the City of Rijeka as a one of the largest centres of its kind in the region. At the end of the speeches, there will be a tour of the Torpedo Production Park and a technology laboratory equipped with specialized industrial equipment for 3D modeling, scanning and printing.

On 26-27 November 2020, the final online event of the PoWER project “From ports to innovative hubs, from innovative hubs to network creation” took place.  The project aimed to support the transformation of ports into innovative hubs (inovation hubs) maximising its entrepreneurial potential.

The first day was a programme for PoWER Protocol signatories – a document in which the local stakeholders of each partner in the PooWER project supported their Adriatic ports on their way to becoming Innovation Hubs local economic systems, enabling them to become "transfer chains" of innovation and facilitating the emergence and development of entrepreneurial potential in their territories. Project partners presented the project objectives and achieved results related to the most important results: a joint PoWER Strategy and PoWER Methodology for building innovation supply chains.

Two round tables were held on the second day. The first roundtable focused on “The evolution of ports after the outbreak of the COVID-19 crisis”. The second round table focused on ‘Ports as logistical, digital, sustainable and economic hubs: Powers and challenges of the four PoWER transit routes for the development of ADRION ports’. These round tables were attended by representatives of partners and local stakeholders from Brcko (BiH), Durres (Albania), Ravenna (Italy) and Rijeka (Croatia) who presented their thoughts, challenges and new opportunities available for the future period of their port areas.

The project formally ends on December 31, 2020.
