As part of the EU project LO.PA.Z. PLUS funded by the European Social Fund We invite you to the press conference that will be held on Friday, 9 October 2020 at 11 a.m. in the premises of the Information Centre of the City of Rijeka (RI-INFO), Korzo 18b, Rijeka, where the cooperation of local employment partnerships will be presented, namely the Labour Market Council of the Istrian County and the REI II project, as well as the Local Partnership for Employment of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the LO.PA.Z. PLUS project, and news in the work of local partnership bodies at the Croatian level.

Projects LO.PA.Z. PLUS and REI II aim to contribute to the employment of vulnerable target groups in the labour market through their activities and ensure the sustainable functioning of local employment partnership bodies implementing Human Resources Development Strategies in counties as well as cooperation with other such bodies.

The following speakers will address the press conference:

• Elena Božac Čujić, Assistant Head of the Administrative Department for the Economy of the Istrian County and Chair of the Labour Market Council of the Istrian County,

I'm wrong, so I'm learning: Domestic entrepreneurs share their ups and downs

Through learning, networking and exchange of experience to create a more favorable business environment as a basis for the establishment, growth and development of enterprises and society as a whole.

The Croatian Chamber of Commerce, with the support of Lean Startup Croatia, organizes the BizHack Startup Caffe from September to November. It is a cycle of five online meetings with domestic entrepreneurs with the aim of exchanging information, experiences and knowledge between entrepreneurs and participants and mutual assistance in facilitating the realization of entrepreneurial ventures. The theme of the first BizHack Startup Caffe is “I'm wrong, so I'm learning”, It will take place on 23 September at 5 p.m.

The events also aim to strengthen the local component and encourage the exchange of experiences of entrepreneurs from a particular area. Thus, the first BizHack Startup Caffe “I am wrong, therefore I am learning” will bring together host entrepreneurs from the Rijeka area, and the local partner of the project is the Rijeka Development Agency Porin. Participate in the event Maria Trcol, Founder of Wild Olive Oil, Dejan Radić, Director of Playrix Croatia, Saša Ivan Vrdoljak, partner in Alcina and Dario Zoric, Director of Porin.

The BizHack Startup Caffe “I'm wrong, so I'm learning” concentrates on the topic of learning from my own, but also someone else’s mistakes. He will play with a well-established interpretation of the proverb that whoever works is also wrong. It is true that the opportunity to learn is opened only through work, because then one can only learn from mistakes. Examples of failed projects will be presented and participants will be able to gain insight into the obstacles that stand in their way of developing a successful business venture. In the second part of the event "I succeeded, ask me how" the host entrepreneurs will share examples of successful projects and how they have achieved their success.

The BizHack Startup Caffe cycle was organised as part of the project ‘Promotion of Entrepreneurship (KK.03.1.2.24.0001)’, the purpose of which is to improve the negative perception of entrepreneurship in Croatia and thus enable the creation of a more favourable business environment as a basis for the establishment, growth and development of enterprises and society as a whole. The Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK) is a partner on the project, and support in the organization of the cycle is provided by Lean startup Croatia, an organization that has been working on the development of the startup and entrepreneurial ecosystem for seven years and has been chosen as the implementer of the activities of this project due to its experience in the organization and implementation of over 50 different events for the startup ecosystem in Croatia and abroad.

3rd TEMPUS Project Partnership Meeting Held

The project partners held the third TEMPUS project partnership meeting (TEMPorary USes as start-up actions to enhance port (in)tangible heritage) via Webex on 29 and 30 July 2020. The topic of the meeting was the implementation of activities in the third period of the project, as well as the emphasis on future activities.

Each partner presented its activities, and the Rijeka Development Agency Porin d.o.o., as the manager of work package 4 entitled Telling stories of port cities for entrepreneurial innovations of heritage management, gave a complete coverage of implemented all involved partners. The emphasis was on the organization of a virtual exhibition of the history of the pilot ports of Rijeka, Ravenna and Solin. This exhibition will be organized on the basis of research conducted by pilot cities to highlight the historical aspect of port development and their impact through various epochs on their surroundings, and visitors will additionally acquire knowledge about commercial, productive and leisure activities that characterized the life of ports and the evolution of relations between the two coasts of the Adriatic Sea. This virtual exhibition will be a good basis for entrepreneurs who will be able to apply for an open competition for entrepreneurial ideas that can be implemented in the port area, which connect the past and the present with an emphasis on materials (goods), technology, people and culture. The aim is therefore to allow temporary use of the space for various activities that foster the tangible and intangible heritage of the ports.

The project partners also discussed the management and financial elements of the project; the stages of drafting a document on the in-depth analysis of port areas, which will end up with an Urban Strategy for Ports of Pilot Cities, and the partners discussed the essential elements of the same; This is the basis for launching calls for entrepreneurs and applying for their ideas, project promotion activities, etc.

The TEMPUS project aims to achieve changes that affect the diverse and unusual heritage of urban ports and the untapped potential of local communities and their direct inclusion in the definition and launch of urban strategies. In this sense, the project will focus on the idea of urban ports as a combination of tradition, history, activities, architecture and culture, which will enable the creation of new contextual values that need to be capitalized to initiate a wider scope of the process of valorization and regeneration of cultural and natural heritage to further foster well-being and create a new life for the urban port areas of the Adriatic ports, which have deep roots in their cultural, urban and entrepreneurial dimensions.

The project activities are co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg V-A Italy-Croatia Programme, with a total value of EUR 2,706,920,00, and last until the end of 2021.

 

Rijeka, 31 July 2020

On 6 July 2020 An online meeting (in line with COVID-19 safeguards) of the Blue Green City partnership was organised by Metropolis Nice Côte d’Azur – Euromed Cities Network. 

The second official partnership meeting and study visit to be held on 23-25 March 2020 in Turin, Italy, were postponed until further notice given the international context and the adoption of restrictive measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and the Blue Green City partnership decided to hold it in October 2020 to ensure the proper implementation of the project and the fulfilment of planned activities.

The partners had the opportunity to discuss the implications of COVID-19 for the planning of future project meetings, the progress of project activities at the partnership level (first progress report), financial issues (the budget of the Piedmont Region), and Interreg Europe's recommendations on the importance of achieving changes in thematic policies. Furthermore, a project partner from the Southern Regional Assembly gave a very interesting presentation on the development of blue and green infrastructures (BGI) and the development of solutions based on sustainable management of natural ecosystems (NBS) in Southern Ireland. The partner in charge of communication on the project – BI RDA (Romania) shared with the project partners the communication and dissemination activities carried out and the results achieved during the first two semesters of the project implementation.
