The Economic School of Mijo Mirković Rijeka organized a program as part of the celebration European Vocational Skills Week EUROPEAN VOCATIONAL SKILLS WEEK 2019
On October 16, 2019, Doris Sošić from the Rijeka Development Agency Porin d.o.o. presented the LO.PA.Z. PLUS project and the activities carried out by our support institution for second, third and fourth grade students.

Rijeka Development Agency Porin Ltd. in partnership with seven other countries (France, Italy, Great Britain, Ireland, Germany, Sweden and Romania) participates as a partner in the implementation of the “Blue and Green Infrastructure for Sustainable Cities” project from 01/01/2019 to 31/07/2022 through the Interregional Cooperation Programme INTERREG EUROPE.

The goal of the project is Promotion of green and blue infrastructure as an integral part of the local/regional natural heritage conservation strategy. Blue Green City strives to increase awareness and knowledge of the concept of ecosystem services and the value of green and blue infrastructure through project events, such as workshops and trainings. This will be achieved through an interregional learning process and strong cooperation in finding common solutions to common climate change challenges, in particular through the exchange of experiences and good practices. In this context, Blue Green City aligns with the EU Green Infrastructure Strategy and the EU 2020 Biodiversity Strategy, referring to the important role that green and blue infrastructure play in protecting, preserving and enhancing the EU's natural capital, providing functional ecological connectivity between cities and protected areas.
On 24 and 25 September 2019, the Rijeka Development Agency Porin d.o.o. participated in the Kick-off meeting in Nice organised by the leading partner – Metropolis Nice Côte d’Azur – Euromed Cities Network. At this event, the organizers presented the project, project partners and expected results, defined the concrete contribution of each partner in the implementation of the project, and started interregional learning and exchange of experiences.

On September 13, 2019, a regular 8th partnership meeting of the LO.PA.Z. PLUS project was held at the premises of the Centre for Technical Culture Rijeka. The agenda of the meeting discussed the progress reports approved so far on the project and the budget spent per partner and overall.
In the 6th quarter of the project implementation, from 15 August to 14 November 2919, the remaining planned activities will be implemented, so the project team members discussed the terms of their implementation. Activities that will be implemented relate to education for the unemployed (Computer use, Systematic entrepreneurship) , education for members of the Local Partnership for Employment of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and their employees (Psychological aspects of career management, Development and implementation of EU projects); production of professional materials such as: Identification of shortage occupations, Programme for Entrepreneurial Promotion in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Development of tools for monitoring the needs of staff in the IT sector, Creation of a coalition of development of digital knowledge and skills; providing mentoring for beneficiaries of support for self-employment and organising a meeting with employers to present a programme to encourage entrepreneurship in PGC and invite them to cooperate for mentoring start-up entrepreneurs. At the end of the month, the members of the Local Partnership for Employment of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and their employees will organize team building and a joint bocce activity to strengthen team work.
The project was co-financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund. The beneficiary of the project is the Rijeka Development Agency Porin d.o.o., and the other partners are the City of Rijeka, the University of Rijeka, the Centre of Technical Culture Rijeka, the municipalities of Viškovo, the Croatian Chamber of Economy-County Chamber of Rijeka, the Chamber of Trades and Crafts of PGC and the CES-Regional Office Rijeka.
