EIT Jumpstarter It is one of Europe's most famous pre-acceleration proramas and will soon start in 2022!

This year, they invite candidates to submit their innovative ideas in six thematic categories:

• healthcare;
• raw materials,
• agri-food,
• energy;
• manufacturing; 
• urban mobility

The program is intended for scientific project teams, innovators, scientists, doctoral students or students of master's studies with a product or idea, from thematic categories, that they want to market.

What does EIT Jumpstarter offer?

During the eight-month program, innovators will find and confirm the best business model for their innovative idea, i.e. gain knowledge about business improvement, offering value to the customer, market segmentation, finances, investment bases, legal bases. Courses are based on methodology lean start-up from Silicon Valley adapted to the European environment.

During the program, participants will be provided with travel and accommodation support, and the best teams in each category will have the opportunity to win €10,000 A valuable cash prize.

Why is it unique?

The EIT Jumpstarter is a highly selective, competitive programme and participation in it opens the door to European markets and connects the best teams with the six major industrial partners of the EIT Communities such as: GE Healthcare, Siemens, Philips, Roche, Bosch, Nestlé, Pepsico and Maspex, among others.

Jumpstarter has trained more than 348 teams since 2017, and the program itself won the Best Association Training Initiative Award of the European Association Awards in 2019.

Today, February 8, 2022, the Rijeka Development Agency Porin and the Torpedo Production Park visited British Ambassador to Croatia, Simon Thomas.

As he said in his welcome speech this summer, the British and Croatians share a love for football, Wimbledon, music, new technologies… New technologies can be found in the Torpedo Production Park, namely industrial equipment for additive technology, i.e. 3D scanners, 3D printers and 3D modeling equipment.

Dario Zorić, Director of the Rijeka Development Agency Porin, gave a presentation about the Rijeka Development Agency Porin and the Torpedo Production Park, but also about the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Rijeka.

On 29 December, at the premises of the Rijeka Development Agency Porin d.o.o. Production Park Torpedo, a session of the Election Assembly of the Local Partnership for Employment of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County (LPZ PGŽ) was held, both physically and online. The participants of the Assembly were welcomed by the Director of the Rijeka Development Agency Porin d.o.o., Dario Zorić.

The newly appointed representatives of 29 members were presented on the agenda of the session, a report on the activities achieved for the mandate period 2018-2021 was presented, with a review of the overall activity of this body from its establishment to the present day, and representatives of the members of the Presidency, the Management Board and the Secretariat of the LPZ PGŽ were elected.

The current president, Doris Sošić from the Rijeka Development Agency Porin d.o.o., was elected president of the LPZ PGC, and the vice-presidents are Andrej Marušić from the Institution for Adult Education Dante and Željko Marković from the Croatian Employment Service - Regional Service Rijeka.

Representatives of the following members were elected to the Management Board:  Rijeka Development Agency Porin d.o.o., Institution for Adult Education Dante, Croatian Employment Service - Regional Service Rijeka, University of Rijeka, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, City of Rijeka, Centre for Technical Culture Rijeka. The Secretariat of LPZ PGC consists of the Rijeka Development Agency Porin d.o.o., Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Centre of Technical Culture Rijeka and the Croatian Chamber of Economy-County Chamber Rijeka.

After the meeting, representatives of the members of the LPZ PGC visited the Torpedo Production Park, which was presented by the director Dario Zorić.

At the beginning of the meeting, the interested audience welcomed Dario Zoric, Director of the Rijeka Development Agency Porin d.o.o., Senior Advisor to the Senior Adviser for Development and Economy of the City of Rijeka, Nataša Zrilić, and Doris Sošić, Head of Europe Direct Rijeka.

Dario Zorić announced that Torpedo Days will become a traditional event that will be held several times a year in order to promote new technologies as much as possible and to interest as many people as possible.

The following was a lecture by sales managers in new business areas, Ericcson Nikola Tesla d.d. and technical coordinator CEKOM Rijeka (Smart Ri d.o.o.) Damir Medved on the topic AI, ML and BigData in the context of smart cities – an opportunity for cross-sectoral cooperation They were very interested in the audience.

In his lecture, he pointed out that the City of Rijeka has already been chosen for the third time as the "smartest city" and that additional funds are being invested to make it even smarter. He also invited everyone interested to a presentation cycle called Smart cities and municipalities It will be held in January and February 2022.

The lecture was followed by a panel called Application of smart solutions in different industries in which they participated with Damir Medved, Luka Bracanović from the company E-glas, Igor Felc, Founder of REEV Electric and Mateo Starčević Filipović, Director of BrightDock & Huuk.

Panellists presented how they use smart solutions. So Luka Bracanović presented Kokolingo, a digital speech therapist trainee that can be used by parents of children with articulation disorders to practice speech with their children or by speech therapists in conducting therapies.

Igor Felc talked about his business and the project he is working on, which is Hybrid kit which can be installed in a non-electric car and make it a hybrid or plug-in hybrid car.

Mateo Starčević Filipović presented a new social network for young people: Huuk. Huuk is a social network that connects people according to interests and location. The primary role of this social network is to connect people who do not know each other (but not for a date like Tinder) in order to spontaneously socialize.

Damir Medved emphasized that good infrastructure is the basis for every smart city and that it is always necessary to start precisely from solving and improving infrastructure in order for the smart city project to be successful.

After the panel, the participants visited Torpedo Production Park where they had the opportunity to see industrial equipment for additive technology, i.e. 3D scanner, 3D printers and 3D modelling equipment, and a demonstration of the work of the equipment was held.
