VersusVirus or Viral action against viruses – online hackathon Starts April 17th, sign up and participate!
The COVID-19 virus has caught us unprepared, caused the pandemic and the global “closure” of everything – people, cities and the economy. But perhaps most importantly, he showed us that overnight change is possible. The coronavirus crisis is not the last in a row, nor is it separated from other crises, such as economic, health and climate. They are all linked together in a single major crisis.

The question arises: What can we do for our community?

We invite you to find answers together within 48 hours, on the online hackathon VersusVirus. Hackathon is an intense activity of short duration, where various stakeholders come together to solve the problem.

VersusVirus is a viral hackathon aimed at exchanging and rapidly developing ideas for urgently needed solutions at the time of this crisis, as well as for building post-pandemic resilience and restoring the economy and the community.

Anyone interested can apply, from individuals to government representatives, students, companies, scientists, workers, adventurers, employees, the unemployed, activists, institutions and anyone who does not even know that they have a potential solution in their heads. Log your idea on the web link https://versusvirus.hr by 17 April 2020, 12.00. If you do not have an idea, but you have the necessary knowledge and skills, you can apply as a mentor or you can support this initiative as a sponsor.

The VersusVirus Hackathon initiative was created as a voluntary partnership between different types of organizations and individuals to jointly address the challenges related to the coronavirus pandemic, but also any future crisis. This partnership brought together organisations involved in dialogue, decision-making and implementation of the responses that participants will offer, to make it better for everyone.  The organisers underline: “Now we have the opportunity to rethink what is happening next, what will happen after the passage of the COVID-19 crisis, we have a unique opportunity to restart and re-create our common future, the future we want. It is time for action.’

Hackathon starts on April 17, 2020 by registering participants, division into teams and elaboration of ideas. Saturday and Sunday (18th). - 19 April) teams will develop ideas under the guidance of a mentor and the event will close on Sunday evening. The winners will receive mentoring support to further develop their ideas.

Hackathon will take place entirely through online tools such as Slack and Zoom
