In each pilot city of the TEMPUS project, i.e. in Rijeka, Ravenna and Solin, HACK DAYs were held in order for the participants of the event (young people from 18 to 35 years of age who worked in teams) to participate with their ideas that will contribute to new innovative solutions for the further development of tourism and economy in port cities. The local jury of pilot cities chose their winning ideas that participated in the selection of the best at the international level of the TEMPUS project.
At the meeting of TEMPUS project partners held on 28 March 2023, an international jury consisting of Michele Mazzali, Marijana Pavičić Pera and Doris Sošić evaluated the three best ideas of pilot cities:
- New European Bahaus for the unused port heritage of Rijeka, pilot of the city of Rijeka,
- Angela Angelina - one widespread island, pilot of the city of Ravenna,
- Promotion and inclusion of the excursion site Jadro in the tourist offer, pilot of the city of Solin.
The jury had a very difficult task because all three ideas gave one new view of the realization of new challenges for the development of each pilot city. The winning idea is that of a Ravenna pilot named Angela Angelina – one widespread island. It was an old oil rig in the Italian part of the Adriatic that would become a multifunctional space for various events, research, etc. It is planned to cooperate with local cultural, scientific and other institutions, especially fishermen on setting up various facilities at the bottom of the sea in order to restore fish stocks, scientists for the use of energy through sea waves, etc. This ‘island’ would thus become a new tourist attraction in further connecting Italy and Croatia according to the motto of the project, which reads: Breathe new life into the Adriatic ports.
At the final conference of the TEMPUS project held on 29 March 2023 in Bari, Doris Sošić announced on behalf of the jury members the winning idea of young students from Ravenna.
