As part of the implementation of the second phase of the Blue Green City project, the Rijeka Development Agency Porin d.o.o. organized education on 12 July 2022 through two workshops on the following topics: Scenario planning for strategyu climate change adaptation; and Evaluation of ecosystem services. Participants were welcomed by Dario Zorić, Director of the Rijeka Development Agency Porin d.o.o.
The themes of these workshops are very important to increase awareness and knowledge of the concept of ecosystem services and the value of green and blue infrastructure for the purpose of interregional learning, exchanging experiences and good practices and creating strong cooperation in finding common solutions to the common challenges of climate change. In addition to the mentioned topics, the Blue Green City project and the state of implementation of the Action Plan for the City of Rijeka were presented.
The content of the workshop Scenario planning for the climate change adaptation strategy referred to the introductory words of the importance of climate change monitoring, Covenant of Mayors
for climate and energy, the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan – SECAP with its content and its design phases, local climate change adaptation scenarios – by 2100, risk and vulnerability analysis, climate disaster evaluation and climate change adaptation measures.
The content of the workshop Evaluation of ecosystem services related to ecosystem services, the process of mapping and assessing ecosystems and their services (KIPES), the assessment of the state of ecosystems, the relationship between ecosystems and socio-social systems, the state of ecosystems in Croatia, the restoration of degraded ecosystems with examples, the assessment of ecosystem services and their qualification, and indicators of ecosystem services and the assessment of their economic value.
The education was conducted by the Regional Energy Agency Kvarner from Rijeka, and the lecture was held by Nataša Turina, Senior expert associate for the preparation and implementation of projects. The participants of this training were 11 representatives of local stakeholders important in the process of treating these topics, the City of Rijeka, Čistoća KD, Učka PP, the Institute for Physical Planning of PGŽ, RRA Porin and LAG Terra liburna.
