Public call for establishing a media fact-check has been published

The Electronic Media Agency Public call for grants to establish a system for verifying the accuracy of information (reference number: NPOO C1.1.1. R6-I2) for which €5,972,526 (HRK 45 million) was provided as a grant.

The purpose of the Call is to strengthen the resilience of society against disinformation by reducing the amount of disinformation, misinformation and fake news in the public space, to strengthen information reliability and security in the consumption of media content and the use of social networks, to strengthen the quality of journalism and credible reporting and to strengthen media literacy.

Grants are awarded to associations, universities, faculties, higher education institutions, polytechnics and institutes for co-financing activities related to the implementation of the project for the establishment of a system for checking the accuracy of information published in the public space, media and social networks, investments in strengthening the capacity and competences of existing information checkers (fact checker), establishing new independent verifiers and establishing and strengthening information verification systems and procedures (fact-checking) in media newsrooms and media resilience to disinformation, and by fostering quality and credible journalism, as well as encouraging the creation of media content related to the fight against disinformation.

  • Maximum grant amount: 199.084 € (1.500.000,00 kn)

Receipt of project proposals starts 1 February 2023 and lasts until 30 April 2023
