[OPTION] Funding for testing and demonstration of hydrogen technologies for SMEs

North Adriatic Clean Hydrogen Investment Platform (NACHIP), a project co-financed by the European Commission’s I3 Instrument, has opened the first call for funding for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) developing innovative hydrogen solutions They are ready to test them in realistic operational environments.

The call will finance SMEs that already have a high-readiness technology (TRL 7 or higher) and want to demonstrate its Functionality, safety and applicability in real industrial and energy environments related to the hydrogen value chain.

The aim is to enable companies to prove that their solutions They are really working in practice. and to accelerate their path to market and commercialisation.

What is financed?

They are funded Innovation contributing to the development of hydrogen technologies, including:

  • Hydrogen use and storage solutions (mobility, energy, safety)
  • advanced materials, composite materials and components for hydrogen equipment
  • Digital tools and models for optimising hydrogen systems
  • Technologies related to catalysts and energy processes
  • Integration of hydrogen solutions into buildings and urban energy systems

All notified technologies should be linked to one or more NACHIP pilots and ready to be demonstrated in real world conditions.

Amount and conditions of funding

  • to €60,000 per SME
  • to €180,000 per consortium (3 SMEs)
  • co-financing 100 %
  • Project duration: to 6 months

The call is open to SMEs from all eligible European regions, including Croatian regions.

Deadline and method of submission of applications

The call is open to 3 February 2026. The project proposal is submitted online through the official website of the project.

Online Info Day: NACHIP 1st Open Day

In order to help potential applicants, NACHIP organizes an online Info Day dedicated to clarifying the rules, criteria and thematic focus of the call 18 December 2025, starting at 2.30 p.m..

The Info Day will present the project, pilot sites, call conditions and the application process, with the possibility of asking questions.
