Call within the framework is open InnoWise Scale Project activities Water Scarcity intended entrepreneurs developing solutions in the context of tackling water scarcity in southern Europe.
EIT Food together with Climate KIC-om, Digital and Manufacturing KICs; Athena RC, Bioazul i TuDelft, lead a multi-annual and multidisciplinary programme designed to mitigating water scarcity in southern Europe, by working together to see water scarcity as a thematic field from agriculture to production.
Main objective of the programme Facilitate the transition to a water-saving economy across southern Europe and contribute to reducing European water consumption, waste and pollution in the long term. This is achieved by targeting different stakeholders, from policy makers to businesses, industry leaders and citizens through various actions.
Through Knowledge and Innovation Communities – KICs, the EIT is launching this call for start-ups, scale-ups and SMEs to support innovators in reaching the market with innovative solutions tackling water scarcity in Southern Europe.
InnoWise Scale activities are designed to enable agile water management in different sectors, optimise and harmonise water supply and demand, and foster climate change readiness while fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, in particular in the Mediterranean region, namely Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal and Spain.
Forty applications will be selected to participate in InnoWise Scale activities, including:
• Market-oriented trainings and a 3-month mentoring period,
• Networking sessions with potential end-users
• Sectoral competitions, with the possibility of implementing a demo site at the end of the period with potential end-users in Southern European countries.
InnoWise Scale activities provide a unique opportunity. adapted to the real needs of specific sectors (through the involvement of the "problem-maker"). These market-oriented activities are intended to stimulate the market launch of advanced water-related technologies.
Eligible applicants are start-ups, scale-ups or SMEs that offer solutions to one of these sectoral challenges:
• Water management in manufacturing industries
• Water management in the food and beverage industry
• Water management in the agricultural sector
• Water management in water-communal activities and large infrastructures
