The goal of the project is Promotion of green and blue infrastructure as an integral part of the local/regional natural heritage conservation strategy. Blue Green City strives to increase awareness and knowledge of the concept of ecosystem services and the value of green and blue infrastructure through project events, such as workshops and trainings. This will be achieved through an interregional learning process and strong cooperation in finding common solutions to common climate change challenges, in particular through the exchange of experiences and good practices. In this context, Blue Green City aligns with the EU Green Infrastructure Strategy and the EU 2020 Biodiversity Strategy, referring to the important role that green and blue infrastructure play in protecting, preserving and enhancing the EU's natural capital, providing functional ecological connectivity between cities and protected areas.

On 24 and 25 September 2019, the Rijeka Development Agency Porin d.o.o. participated in the Kick-off meeting in Nice organised by the leading partner – Metropolis Nice Côte d’Azur – Euromed Cities Network. At this event, the organizers presented the project, project partners and expected results, defined the concrete contribution of each partner in the implementation of the project, and started interregional learning and exchange of experiences.
