What to solve before web, AI and marketing?

Digital tools can speed up business, but they cannot solve unclear foundations.

Website, social networks, AI tools, CRM systems, ads, automation… Many entrepreneurs see the first step in business development right here.

While all these tools can have great value, the problem arises when they are introduced prematurely, before the basic elements of the business are clearly defined. In such situations, technology does not solve the problem. He's just accelerating it.

The most common mistake?

Digitalization without a clear goal.

For example:

  • a website is created without a clearly defined offer,
  • invests in marketing without a precise target group;
  • AI is introduced without understanding the process that is actually meant to be improved.

The result is additional costs, lost time and tools used partially or not at all.

Before investing in digital tools, it is worth answering several key questions:

1. What are you selling?

Can you clearly explain your service or product in one or two sentences? If the answer is unclear, there is a high probability that communication to the market will also be such.

2. Who are you talking to?

“Everyone” is not a target group. It is important to understand:

  • to whom the product or service actually brings value,
  • which solves the problem,
  • Why would someone choose you?

3. What problem are you trying to solve?

Technology should not be an end in itself. Before investing, it is important to define:

  • What doesn't work right now,
  • where bottlenecks are formed,
  • Which process takes the most time or resources.

4. Is there a process that can be improved?

AI and digital tools work best when there is already a certain level of organization and repeatability of the process. If the process does not exist or is not clearly defined, digitalisation often only further complicates business.

5. What do you want to achieve?

  • More queries?
  • Faster processing?
  • Less administration?
  • Better communication with users?

Without a specific objective, it is difficult to assess whether an investment brings real value.

Digitalisation is not an end in itself

Successful digitalisation does not start with a tool, but with an understanding of business. A website, AI or marketing can significantly accelerate development, but first there should be something worth speeding up.

Therefore, before investing in new tools, it often makes more sense to stop, analyse the current situation and clearly define priorities.

Where does digitalisation really make sense?

That is why one of the first steps of digital transformation should not be the choice of tools, but the assessment of real business needs.

Through the project EDIH Adria We support entrepreneurs in assessing digital maturity, identifying processes that have the greatest potential for improvement, and defining concrete steps before investing in digital and AI solutions.

The goal is not to digitize everything, but to find solutions that really make sense for your business.
