When Tomislav Lukić decided to start his own business in 2019, he had four years of work in Ireland and experience in global corporations. Despite his career abroad, he returned home. Engaging in business was all just not easy..
I started out as a flat-rate craftsman. I worked independently on the development of the website. I had knowledge but I didn't have a team, space, contacts… nor a sense of where and how to start.
Little by little, learning from your mistakes but also with the advice of the more experienced, Croator managed to overcome these usual ‘bobs’ followed by new businesses. It has grown into a stable digital agency. with four members of the team consisting of Gabriel, Borna, Matea and Tomislav – specialised in the development of websites, web shops and applications, but also in digital marketing.
The biggest shift occurred when we entered the business incubator. We have the space, the peace to work, but also something even more important – the people around us. Through daily encounters with other entrepreneurs, friendships and business cooperation have developed. And that's why we're still here, in space the Torpedo Business Service Incubator.
Growth with incubator
Tomislav especially emphasizes the role of incubators, not only in terms of infrastructure, but also as places for continuous learning and connecting.
As a small company, it is difficult to follow everything, and here the education and lectures are permanent. Always something new, always a chance to grow. We appreciate that.
When asked about the greatest business success, he does not mention numbers or rewards.
Our greatest success is that we work as a team. We respect each other, learn from each other, and push together forward.
Message for New Entrepreneurs
Tomislav laughs when he says he does not want to sound like ’motivation guru“, but his words are just that – motivating.
When you decide to start your own business, give 100% yourself! Don't let the opinions of people who don't understand your job hold you back. Come on, network. Be persistent. Beginnings are the hardest, but if you know that your product or service has “something” do not be discouraged by small and initial failures – they are the best learners.
He adds that he wants a lot of happiness and success for all future colleagues and fellow entrepreneurs!
Croator today
Croator operates steadily and has great plans for the future. The focus is on developing your own products.
This year, they launched their own SaaS product: Integrio, software to integrate and synchronize web stores with bookkeeping systems. This is a solution for more efficient integration, automation and digitalisation of business systems, and Croator is here to provide you with expertise and support in business optimization.
They have also developed their own tools for more efficient development of web stores and applications, and they are preparing another interesting product that should see the light of day next year.
And all this from the space of the incubator that became their second home.
