[INFO DAN] International funding programmes for market-oriented projects (EUREKA, Eurostars and EIC) and EEN

Croatian Agency for Small Business, Innovation and Investment (HAMAG-BICRO) Organizes Info day on international programmes to finance market-oriented projects EUREKA, Eurostars and the European Innovation Council and on the support available to entrepreneurs through the project Enterprise Europe Network (EEN).

Through Info Day, entrepreneurs want to be given an insight into funding opportunities for research projects which will be available in 2024. Year 1:

  • EUREKA is a programme that encourages small, medium and large enterprises to cooperate with international partners in launching research and development (R&D) activities. The aim of the program is to encourage companies to invest in R&D activities and thus strengthen their innovation capacity. Co-financing depends on the size of the company with a maximum amount of support of EUR 200,000.
  • Eurostars the R&D programme was created as a joint initiative of EUREKA and the European Commission. The basic criterion is the participation of at least two member states. The main partner in the project must be a small or medium-sized company engaged in research and development (Innovative SME). Other project partners must be small or medium-sized enterprises. Co-financing depends on the size of the company with a maximum amount of support of EUR 200,000. Find out the other differences between EUREKA and Eurostars on info day!
  • European Innovation Council (EIC) is a Horizon Europe instrument supporting world-class innovators, entrepreneurs and small businesses. With this instrument, the Council of Europe supports entrepreneurs with high potential to develop high-risk, breakthrough innovations that have an impact on shaping new markets and generating jobs, growth and prosperity in Europe. Entrepreneurs are supported through grants in the form of grants (guarantees), but also through a blended finance programme (grants combined with capital investments).
  • Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) – is the world’s largest network providing entrepreneurs with the information they need to develop their business and find quality business partners. Finding an international partner is one of the main challenges in the EUREKA, Eurostars and European Innovation Council programmes, and EEN, with its profiling service and finding business partners, fit perfectly into the aforementioned info day on these programmes.

In addition to information about programs and free support, entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to hear a short presentation on the role and importance of pitch when applying to the EIC Accelerator.

An info day in Rijeka will be held Wednesday 8 November 2023 year starting at 10 o'clock in the premises STEP RI, Ul. Radmile Matejčić 10.

[EUROPE DIRECT RIJEKA] We served ERASMUS+ to me

In order to celebrate Erasmus Day, which was celebrated this year from 9 to 14 October 2023, we have gathered in cooperation with EUROPE DIRECT Rijeka at the Torpedo Production Park, the beneficiaries of the Erasmus+ programme in various fields presented their experiences and discovered the opportunities offered by the European Union!

For the appetizer we used a panel of scatters in which they participated Petra Zaninović (ERASMUS+ and CEEPUS coordinator of the Faculty of Economics in Rijeka), Madlen Zubović (librarian of the Rijeka Traffic School), Antonio Šimanić (student of the Rijeka Traffic School) and Petra Katana (Head of the Department for EU Projects and International Cooperation at the Institution for Adult Education Dante). The panellists presented their experiences of participating in the mobility provided by the Erasmus+ programme, the problems they encountered and how they solved them, and finally why they would recommend others to participate in the Erasmus+ programme.

For the main course, projects funded by the Erasmus+ programme were presented in an interactive environment. Project Mind over Metter presented Zagorka Prce Cheerful (Director of the Centre for Technical Culture Rijeka) who activated the present workshop using MOM cards created within the project.

Lucia Kero (Youth Counsellor of the City of Rijeka) presented the project City by measure of young people and how young people can get involved in creating activities and content that interest them.
As the saying goes, "In a healthy body, a healthy spirit!", in order to be able to develop their skills, participating in various activities is also good to do sports. That's right, Iris Spain (Department for EU projects, Rijeka Sports Federation) presented Erasmus+ projects in the field of sport and how to get involved in them.

As a sugar in the end, for dessert, EUROPE DIRECT Rijeka and CTK presented the DiscoverEU initiative and showed the young people present how to discover Europe's diversity, learn about its cultural heritage and history and socialize with people from all over Europe!

The event was attended by representatives of secondary schools, faculties, associations, experts in the field of adult education and students.

We are pleased that this event, as well as the Erasmus+ programme, has been recognized in our area and that this event has resulted in numerous collaborations among participants, which is a great example that such meetings have a good impact on connecting all sectors of society

[TORPEDO DAYS] The 5th edition of Torpedo Days was marked by industrial production!

Yesterday was Torpedo Production Park brought together representatives of the private and public sectors at an event called Torpedo days 5 + 22. In cooperation with EUROPE DIRECT Rijeka and with the City of Rijeka – Administrative Department for Economy, Development, Ecology and European Projects, we held the 5th edition of Torpedo Days, an event that connects different industries and the academic sector with new technologies.

The event was opened by the director of the Rijeka Development Agency Porin, Dario Zoric. He thanked everyone for their participation and said that we are celebrating at this event. 27 years of existence of the Rijeka Development Agency Porin.

The Mayor of the City of Rijeka also addressed the audience, Marko Filipović. The Mayor emphasized that these events are an opportunity to get to know and exchange experiences considering the trends that are changing and progressing on a daily basis. He pointed out that Vvo is not only an opportunity for entrepreneurs and businessmen, but also for all those young people, who are just coming to the labour market and who are certainly, at the very beginning, digitally and more ready.

The first day was reserved for the presentation of a unique platform 3D printing hub Ireland where, for the first time in this industry, three development centres from Rijeka, Osijek and Čakovec – the Torpedo Production Park – joined forces, BIOS i Core of metal. The platform was presented Mario Šercer from the Metal core Čakovec, Jean-Pierre Maričić from the Business Incubator BIOS and Dario Zorić pointing out that together they will provide entrepreneurs with a better, better and faster service! Check out what innovative solutions we have prepared for you through 3D printing technology on the web platform 3dprintinghub.hr.

Rijeka Development Agency Porin is a partner in the project ‘Optimisation of Production by 3D printing’ – 3DOP €14 million and funded by the European Commission's new Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) instrument.

The project is based on four ‘packages of investment projects’ that will develop technical solutions in targeted application areas: 3D printing of metals, 3D printing of electronics, 3D printing in the dental industry and automation of additive manufacturing. One of the pilot lines will be established in the Rijeka Development Agency Porin. The project plans to establish an innovation ecosystem to build sustainable investment chains of close-to-market projects.

The project and its main objectives were presented Matjaž Milfelner the Development Center TECOS and Dario Zoric.

The manufacturing industry is the main driver of industrial innovation, job creation and growth in Europe. The vision of the European Union is that Europe will be at the forefront of innovation in manufacturing, and with this mission in mind, HUBs across Europe have been established to bring together all stakeholders working in manufacturing and support them through education, interconnection and innovation projects. Such HUB was founded in Zagreb and presented by the presenter dr.sc. Miro Hegedić. He presented to the attendees and what opportunities through EIT Manufacturing Croatia offer for businesses.

The European Union celebrates this year as European Year of Skills. It looks at the mismatch between the skills that the workforce possesses and the skills that are currently needed in the labour market. We want to point out that this disparity can be eliminated through lifelong learning, continuous work and development of each of us.

Continuing the celebration of the Year of Skills, on the panel Young people in the manufacturing industry we gathered Dorjana Cindrića from Exevia, Karl Džafić from Hartera Robotics and Daniel Djuranovic as a representative of the Torpedo Production Park. They told us why they work in the manufacturing industry, what their favorite projects are and where they see themselves in the future, and how they intend to get there. They told those younger than themselves, but also those who want to change their career, to pursue their interests because they will always be enthusiastic about their work.

The end of the event was marked by a tour of the technology laboratory with demonstration of industrial equipment for additive technology (3D scanner, 3D printers and 3D modeling equipment).

The next day, on INVESTOR DAY- we have ensured that registered entrepreneurs present their ideas in front of investment funds South Central Ventures, Fil Rouge Capital i Silicon Gardens.

We would like to thank all of you for your support and pleasant meeting. See you at the next TORPEDO DAYS!
